Bengaluru: Three days after she attempted suicide after a heated argument with her Inspector, sub inspector Roopa Tambada of Vijayanagar police station on Friday reportedly gave her statement to the police.

According to sources, Roopa, who is recuperating in Suguna Nursing Home after she consumed an overdose of paracetamol tablets on Tuesday, reportedly told the police that she deserved a better work environment than her present one.

“Her statement is not very clear but she has spoken about her trauma and that she should be given a better work environment. She has not made any specific allegations against anyone, including Inspector Sanjeev Gowda, with whom she had an argument regarding a seized mobile phone,” said an official source. He added that the police are yet to go through the details of the statement.

On Tuesday Roopa and Gowda had a heated argument over a seized mobile phone and she had left the police station in a huff. The two officers reportedly had strained working relationship and Gowda, according to sources, had blamed her for his recent suspension. She was upset because Gowda had allegedly written a remark on dereliction of duty against her name in the station diary.
