Hyderabad: The ABVP on Monday called for a state-wide bandh of junior colleges on Tuesday in support of their demand to put an end to the corporate education system.
Staging a protest in front of Sri Chaitanya College here on Monday, ABVP state secretary, Praveen Reddy said that control of Intermediate education has been taken over by corporate entities that ere running illegal institutions.
He said the corporate colleges were demanding payment of 60 per cent of the annual fee at the time of admission and selling books and uniforms in the premises, which were against the rules, he said. Certificates were being withheld till they collect higher fee from the students.
Sai Narayana Swamy, who cleared his intermediate from Narayana Junior College, said, "When we go to the college to get certificates, the management threatens us saying that certificates will be given only if the full fee is paid.."
ABVP has sought action against errant corporate colleges which run hundreds of branches under the same name, derecognition of colleges that promote ranks and an effective fee control Act to streamline the structure. They demanded a probe by a sitting judge of the High Court into all such discrepancies that are destroying lakhs of careers every year.
