I&PR department will be strengthened: Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy

Hyderabad: Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy said that information and public relations (I&PR) department will be strengthened by filling 361vacant posts soon.

The social media presence of the department would be enhanced to create awareness of the government's welfare schemes and development programmes.

Mahender Reddy, who took oath on August 24, held a high-level review meeting on the activities of I&PR department at Secretariat on Friday. I&PR commissioner K. Ashok Reddy, I&PR director B. Raja Mouli, department officials from all the districts were present.

The minister stated that the department will give priority for the welfare of the journalists and additional funds will be sanctioned for the construction of the TS Press Academy building. He said the construction was almost complete and the building will be inaugurated soon.

Mahender Reddy said that the BRS government implementing several welfare schemes and development programmes for the benefit of all sections which no other government could match.

"The state government is doing more but publicising less. The I&PR department should take the responsibility of creating awareness among people on the schemes and initiatives of the state government and ensure that they reach the people," he said.

The minister promised to provide advanced photo and video cameras and vehicles to staff to improve the performance of the department.
