Hyderabad: Army Dental College bites well for residents
Hyderabad: The Army Dental College at Jai Jawar Nagar runs a 20-bed dental hospital for civilians.
Treatment like root canal, caps and metal ceramic crown, x-rays, tooth filling, and even surgeries are done at half the price.
The faculty of 50 dentists specialised in different streams treat facial accidents, trauma cases, and even cosmetic treatment for a subsided price.
The registration fee is Rs 20. They charge Rs 2 for amalgam and extraction and silver filling, which is otherwise an expensive treatment. Located eight km from Tarnaka, the college-cum-hospital is run by the Army Welfare Education Society.
Established in 2003 on 20 acres, the Army College for Dental Studies (ACDS) is an unaided, non-profit minority college.
ACDS Principal Dr K.V. Ramana Reddy said, “We treat facial trauma patients, even those with broken jaw bones, fractured teeth, jaw deformity and pathology in jaws apart from simple orthopantogram treatment. Around 100-150 civilian patients are registered every day. The hospital houses an operation theatre for facial accident cases and cosmetic treatment. Patients also come for removal of wisdom tooth. We have a separate wing to treat children.”
Douglas Merandez, a patient, said that “minute pieces” of his tooth were buried in the inside of his cheeks following an accident.
“I paid Rs 2 towards the fee at ACDS. The hospital is also equipped to conduct blood investigation tests such as a test for Hepatitis and HIV, blood sugar examination at subsidised prices.
