No BC CM Dared To Do Caste Census,Jagan Doing It To Help BCs',Says YSRC MP Krishnaiah

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is trying to ensure social justice and provide opportunities for all castes to progress, claimed YSRC Rajya Sabha member and national backward class welfare association president R. Krishnaiah.

“The Chief Minister is working hard for the development of the state. The welfare of the poor is closely linked with the caste census programme,” he said.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Krishnaiah said the whole nation appreciated the decision of the chief minister to do a caste census in AP.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy is making efforts to ensure opportunities for the castes on a proportional basis. Caste census is going to be crucial for the welfare of the poor, economically, socially and politically,” he said.

The MP said that the chief ministers of other states were surprised at the bold decision taken by CM Jagan Mohan Reddy in this regard.

Hailing that the “caste census is a historical programme,” Krishnaiah said this was an ideal programme for all states to follow.

He said, “We have seen a situation where no one has dared to take caste census even in the states where BC chief ministers are running governments. Although Prime Minister Modi also belongs to a BC group, he did not think of helping the BCs. “The TD had claimed to be running a government for BCs. But, BCs were given fewer representations in Naidu’s cabinets. Even in the United AP, there were no BC ministers.”

“Also, during Naidu’s tenure, no BC was ever sent to the Rajya Sabha from AP.

“Chandrababu Naidu even wrote to the Centre that BCs cannot be Judges, and the BC leaders in that party did not respond.”

Ryaga Krishnaiah said that BC, SC, ST, minority and poor families have been given 32 lakh house titles by chief minister Jagan Reddy, to enable them to live in their own houses. The majority of these went to BCs. CM Jagan provided 1.30 lakh permanent jobs in village and ward secretariats. Out of these, 83 per cent of jobs were given to BC, SC, ST and minority youths.”

Some 2.30 lakh jobs were given through the volunteer system. Of these too, 80 per cent of the jobs went to BC, SC, ST and minority communities, he claimed.
