Technical glitches place Metro commuters on a slow track

Hyderabad: A day after technical glitches resulted in Metro Rail service disruptions on the LB Nagar corridor on Monday, the Blue Line experienced a technical issue on Tuesday that caused service to be suspended along the entire route for more than 30 minutes.

Commuters on the Blue Line between Nagole and Raidurg faced difficulties getting to their destination as a result. Trains were operated on a single corridor due to which frequency was affected. As a result, the Ameerpet Metro Rail station witnessed heavy rush of passengers.

Tuesday’s technical glitch, causing by problems to the signalling system, is not an isolated incident; rather, it seems to be a recurring one.

With over four lakh daily footfall, the Metro services have become a 'lifeline' for Hyderabadis, particularly for the IT employees as the services cut down commute time and make city travel less taxing.

A senior HMRL official requesting anonymity told Deccan Chronicle that the services may encounter technical issues, particularly during the winter and monsoon, as the sophisticated systems are vulnerable to pollution and environmental factors.

Sources said that at times the HMRL authorities were finding it hard to figure out the operational area where the glitches regularly occur. However, the glitches are resolved in an hour, they said.
