KAKINADA: A coconut-loaded boat capsized in Vasishta Godavari River near Bhimalapuram in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district on Tuesday. Two labourers – Kudipudi Peddiraju, 50, of Bhimalapuram and Sidagam Ramana, 35, of Doddipatla village-were missing in the river in the accident. The remaining three persons J.Satyanarayana, Tadikonda Sambasiva Rao and Devi Nagaraju have reached the shore safely.
The Achanta police are searching for the missing persons by deploying swimmers in the river. The coconuts were carried to Kanchusthambhampalem ville of Yelamanchili mandal to Bhimalapuram by boat. It is said that due to the overload of coconuts, exceeding the capacity of the boat is the reason for capsize. Achanta police registered a case.
