HYDERABAD: With Telangana state turning a decade old, it is time to check if the agenda of the state formation — water, funds and jobs, has been achieved, said Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who resumed his padayatra on Tuesday.
Bhatti had stopped the padayatra for two days as he recovered from sunstroke. Speaking at Mallareddypalli in the Jadcherla Assembly constituency, Bhatti called on Telangana activists, journalists, artists and intellectuals to participate in seminars on the issues like Krishna and Godavari waters and if promises for double bedroom houses, a job per household, three acres of land for Dalits were achieved. “Are we going towards an egalitarian society? Are we moving towards a fearless society,” he asked.
Wondering if the Dharani portal was introduced to bring back the feudal system, Bhatti asked, “The BRS has been depriving farmers of the poor and backward sections rights over land. Is it not surprising to claim that Telangana is shining against this backdrop?”
By removing the column on those who are tilling the land, the government has deprived farmers of their rights over the land and enabled landlords to get Rythu Bandhu benefits, he said. “As the owners are selling land, farmers are at a loss on what to do,” he said.
TPCC senior vice-president Mallu Ravi called on the people to save the lands until the Congress party comes back to power.
