Sewerage issues at Jubilee Hills to get permanent fix soon

HYDERABAD: The HMWS&SB has allocated Rs. 10 crores to lay sewerage pipelines to fix long-pending problems in Jubilee Hills, along KBR Park and on Road no 92. Board MD Dana Kishore inspected the area and said that the work that was earlier delayed due to legal disputes would be starting now.

"Fresh tenders have been invited. The process will be completed within a week and work will begin soon. Temporary arrangements have been made to solve the problem," he said.

He said a 300-mm diameter pipeline was constructed under the then Jubilee Hills Cooperative House Building Society, around 40 years ago, and connected from the Journalist colony via Katta Maisamma (CVR office) to the pipeline below Taj Mahal Hotel. It had a septic tank to separate solid waste and release the sewage downstream. With the area becoming heavily populated, the pipe not being able to withstand the increased sewage.

As a solution to the problem, a 2-km pipeline connecting Taj Mahal Hotel from Journalist Colony will be built. Since Jubilee Hills Road No. 92 is a rocky area, the work will take longer.

Till then, temporary sewage diversion will be carried out by repairing the old sewerage pipeline and cleaning the septic tank daily.
