KARIMNAGAR: An 11-year-old boy died by suicide at his house after being scolded by his father over his addition to watching videos on YouTube. The incident took place at Kishnunaik Thanda in Yellareddypet mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district on Sunday.
According to the police, the boy, who was studying class VI at a local government school, was addicted to watching funny videos on YouTube. Worried over his binge-watching, his parents warned him several times for spending all his time with smartphone watching YouTube.
On Saturday night, the boy’s father gave him a dressing-down after he found his son with the smartphone again. Then, the boy, who was upset, went to his room to sleep by locking the door from inside. The parents thought that he would become normal by the morning. But, when the boy did not wake up in the morning, his father broke open the doors only to find the boy hanging in the room.
Police registered a case and shifted the body to the government hospital for postmortem.
