Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday urged the state government and the litigants, who differ in their opinions on the demolition of the dilapidated Osmania general hospital building, to evolve a holistic approach.
Chief Justice Alok Aradhe observed that it is a situation where doctors and patients have to wear helmets.
The bench was dealing with a batch of five PILs in which some requested the court to direct the state government to demolish the existing building and construct new ones for the hospital. However, other petitioners have challenged the proposal as a heritage structure was set to be demolished.
The government counsel informed the court that the expert’s committee had filed a status report on July 27 about the structural strength of the building along with its suggestions. The counsel sought time as the advocate general will be arguing the case.
The Chief Justice directed the government to file its contention on the status report after which the court will decide the date for the final hearing. It gave two weeks to the government to file counters.
