Congress Demands Sub-Quota for Backward Classes in Women's Reservation Bill
Hyderabad: TPCC working president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday demanded that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre provide a sub-quota for backward classes communities in the women's reservation bill. He also demanded a caste census.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Goud said that the BJP introduced and passed the Bill in view of ensuing the elections to draw attention of voters. If the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was committed to provide reservations for women, he must implement the legislation from the ensuing elections, the Congress leader said.
Mahesh Goud said that AICC leader and party MP Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of setting aside seats for the BC community. Highlighting the status of the community, Goud said, Rahul Gandhi had pointed out in Parliament that only three out of 90 secretaries at the Centre belonged to the Backward Classes.
