Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer C.V. Anand on Saturday took charge as Director General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at the bureau’s office in Banjara Hills on Saturday.
He interacted with ACB officials at his chambers. Anand said that the ACB was an area he had never worked in earlier and it would be a good learning experience.
He said that his tenure of about two years as Hyderabad police commissioner was very satisfying professionally, as law and order was maintained with almost zero incidents.
"Communal amity was maintained despite challenges and all festival related processions were tackled with planning and preparation,” Anand said. “Crimes of all types were contained, and some sensational cybercrime frauds were detected.”
He said that the burgeoning traffic required special measures and he had focused on it through Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) and other engineering measures.
The drive against narcotics was intensified through HNEW and later a special bureau was initiated by the government for the purpose.
He said that after three decades, the Hyderabad police was reorganised with 31 new stations, 12 new divisions and three new zones in law and order and Traffic, new special wings for cybercrimes, women safety, IT and social media.
