IIT-H Releases 1st-ever Legacy Project at Meet

Hyderabad: Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) celebrated its 4th Annual Alumni Day in a hybrid mode, showcasing achievements and milestones, including the inauguration of the first-ever legacy project, supported by the pioneer batch of graduates from 2012.

Six distinguished alumni received awards for their outstanding contributions in academics, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and national and institute building. Notable awardees include Dr Arghya Pal for excellence in academics and technology development and Aditya Aagare for promising entrepreneurship.

The day also witnessed the launch of Alumni Networks: Faculty and Research Alumni Network (FRAN), Social Impact Alumni Network (SIAN), Entrepreneur and Investors Alumni Network (EIAN), and Civil Services Alumni Network (CAN).

Dr Mudrika Khandelwal, dean of alumni and corporate relations, expressed the institution's commitment to fostering alumni connections and outlined initiatives, including city-wise meet-and-greets, reinforcing the culture instilled in alumni to contribute meaningfully to society.

Prof B.S. Murty, Director of IITH, talked about the institute's commitment to uniqueness and distinctiveness, evident in various aspects, from campus architecture to courses. He highlighted achievements, such as hosting the G20 event on Digital Technologies and contributing to the research ecosystem through the i-STEM programme.

The IITH Alumni Association (IITHAA) president, Pratyusha, and VP (India), Anjana, shared their commitment to building upon the legacy. Initiatives include expanding the startup and mentoring culture, appointing state secretaries in various regions, and enhancing connections within the alumni community.

Cultural programs, a special evening for the Decennial Batch 2013, and a day filled with events, including mentoring sessions, departmental interactions, and sports activities, marked the celebration.
