CPM sees Sangh bid to target CM Pinarayi Vijayan
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said in targeting Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the RSS was using its standard formula of attacking democratically elected representatives especially those from the Left. Yechury was reacting to the RSS protest march to Kerala House which coincided with the chief minister’s Delhi visit. The RSS original plan was to gherao Pinarayi Vijayan who was staying in Kerala House. However, their plan could not succeed as the chief minister had cut short his visit and returned to Kerala.
The CPM general secretary told DC that the BJP-RSS was deliberately trying to create a law and order situation in the state to campaign for central intervention. “The devious designs of Sangh Parivar are not going to work. We will counter their campaign across the country,” he added. Yechury said after the BJP's entry into Assembly in the last elections, the Sangh Parivar was resorting to devious ways to consolidate its position in the state.
“The Sangh Parviar has always resorted to violence, communal polarisation to gain political and electoral advantage. Such fascist actions were on display in various parts of the country. The riots engineered in different states including Muzafarngar had exposed their designs,” he said. It may be recalled that last month the chief minister was not allowed to attend a function organised by Malayalee organisations in Bhopal, the capital of BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh.
The police had advised him to stay away from the function expressing their inability to provide security in the wake of a protest held by a group of Sangh Parivar activists at the venue. The LDF had organised state wide protests against the intolerance of RSS and BJP. With the BJP and RSS warning CPM leaders of retaliation elsewhere in the country in response to Kannur violence, the fight between the two parties is unlikely to end just yet.
