Three firms vie for Smart city

Meeting on February 1 to finalise consultant for prestigious project.

Thiruvananthapuram: The next Smart Thiruvananthapuram Private Limited board meeting on February 1 will decide on the project management consultant agency.

The company CEO M. Beena said that while Wadia Techno-Engineering Services Limited quoted the lowest bid, no formal decision has been taken. Other than Wadia, Mahindra Consulting Engineers Limited and IPE Global Limited had participated in the bid. Sources say that all three got almost the same scores in the technical bid. Technical bid was to given more weightage than financial bid. So some officials had told DC that there would be many more meetings before a decision is taken.

The technical presentation was evaluated on January 10 by a sub-committee consisting M. Beena, finance (expenditure) secretary Sharmila Mary Joseph, LSGD (Urban) secretary B. Ashok, Chief Town Planner K. Remanan and Thiruvananthapuram Corporation secretary Deepa L.S.

The last board meeting had finalised projects which the Corporation can implement. Following this, it started work on some. They have started designing prototype of smart bus stops. There will be 93 smart bus stops across the city, in addition to the 35 smart bus stops.
