Google honours legendary Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar with a doodle on his 88th birthday

Bengaluru: It’s the ultimate tribute to all his “abhimani devarugalu” with Google doodling the all too familiar face of Karnataka's favourite son, Dr Rajkumar, as the state marked his 88th birthday - if he had been alive.

On Monday, the popular search engine honoured the legendary actor by featuring him on its homepage in India, sending his fans, or abhimani devarugalu, as he referred to them, into raptures.

Within moments of it being unveiled, the doodle started trending on various social media platforms and fans thanked Google for making this year's birthday special. "When I took out my phone in the morning to search what was trending on the internet, I was pleasantly surprised to see Rajanna on the Google homepage. It was even more special as Sachin Tendulkar's too celebrates his birthday today. It made my day," said Harish, a fan of Annavaru.

Kannada film stars wasted no time in posting the image on their personal social media accounts. Many tweeted their photos and memories with Rajanna.
