Congress legislator P T Thomas sees attempt on life; files complaint
Kochi: Congress legislator P. T. Thomas, who was among the first to report the actor assault to cops on the night of February 17, filed a police complaint on Monday saying there was a suspected attempt on his life. He says all four wheels of his car were found loosened and one of them nearly came off while he was travelling through the busy Vytilla Junction Sunday evening a passerby pointed out that the back left wheel of my Innova had some issues. When we checked it a few minutes later, we found that the nuts of this wheel had been loosened. On checking further, we found all wheels in the same state,” the MLA said in his complaint.
The Palarivattom Police registered an FIR with an attempt to murder charges (section 307 IPC) against unidentified persons. The Congress leader said he decided to complain after experts from the automobile company inspected the vehicle in detail and said it could not have happened without external intervention. “I was travelling to Kizhakkambalam and a lady passing by brought it to the notice of my driver when the car reached near Vytilla at 6.30 pm. Upon inspection, we found screws of all the four tyres loosened. This was very strange since I had got the car serviced just three days back,” he said.
“I didn’t file a petition on Sunday since I wanted to get the opinion of the automobile company officials who inspected the vehicle in detail. They informed me that there was something fishy. Had we continued our journey ignorant of the situation it would have proved very dangerous.” When asked whether he suspect anyone, he wasn’t forthcoming and said he had shared his “thoughts” with the police. Meanwhile, police said he probe into the complaint is on. “We’ll have to look at all the places where the legislator had been to. We are in the process of collecting details,” they said.
