Army recruitment: 41 disqualified for giving bogus' certificates
THIRUVANNAMALAI: As many as 41 candidates from Krishnagiri district who participated in a Army recruitment camp being held here were disqualified for producing bogus nativity certificates.
The recruitment camp is meant exclusively for candidates from the districts of Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Thiruvallur, Villupuram and Cuddalore, besides Puducherry and is scheduled to go on till August 31.
Some of the unemployed candidates who were from Krishnagiri district had allegedly produced bogus nativity certificates stating that they hailed from Thiruvannamalai district, police said. All the 41 candidates from that district had obtained false nativity certificates stating that they were from the Thiruvannamalai district.
Most of the students who had come from the Krishnagiri District, had qualified in all the endurance tests conducted by the recruiting authorities, the Army recruitment camp officials said.
When the candidates mark sheets were matched with the schools from they had passed out, the recruiting authorities suspected the nativity of those candidates. Hence, Col Pitrae referred the matter to the town East police station inspector to verify the veracity of the candidates.
Enquiries by the police revealed that some middlemen had promised them with false nativity certificates and also induced them to participate in the recruitment camp.
The army recruiting officials disqualified all those 41 candidates from Krishnagiri district and sent them back after the police inquiries were over. Inspector Parthasarathy, speaking to DC, said that the police were in search of the middlemen who had arranged the bogus nativity certificates for the innocent candidates.
