Ballari: Repenting for unknowingly clicking photographs of a wedding at the Virupaksha temple in world heritage site, Hampi, a tourist from England has sent cheques worth of Rs 30,000 to the temple's manager.

Peter G Deverell who visited 15th century capital of Vijayanagar empire on 17th November last year. On that day, a wedding was going on inside the temple premises. Assuming the wedding as a traditional religious ritual performed in the temple and also, fascinated by the traditional attire of bride, groom and others who attended marriage ceremony, Mr Deverell had clicked photographs of newly wedded couple and others. Having enquired one in the marriage ceremony, he learnt that it was a wedding ceremony and then, he silently left the place in shame for entering into "a complete private function" without permission.

"Unknowingly, I entered marriage ceremony and walked around the marriage place and took photographs as my wish. By conducting myself this way, I hurted them and had shown disrespect to them. Regretting for my conduct, I am sending these cheques to the temple administration, since I don't know the address of bride, groom and priest who conducted marriage. I request the temple administration to hand over these cheques to the concerned and am hopeful that they pardon me once they receive these cheques" Mr Deverell stated in his two page letter written to the manager of the temple.

He has sent one cheque worth 251 Pound to the newly wedded couple and 51 Pound worth cheque to the priest who conducted marriage and 11 pound worth cheque to the Virupaksha temple.
