Cyberabad police review security for Ganesh fest

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police commissioner Stephen Raveendra held an interdepartmental coordination meeting at Madhapur with the heads of departments to review security arrangements for the upcoming Ganesha Chaturthi.

The meeting was held with officers of GHMC, HMWS&SB, TSSPDCL, fire services, irrigation, road transport, R&B, fire services, medical and health department and other departments as well as the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsava Samiti (BGUS) at CCRT Auditorium in Madhapur.

From August 31 till September 9, the festival must be held in a dignified manner and the police must be fully prepared, said the commissioner, adding that officials of all the departments should work in coordination to avoid any problems related to the arrangements, management and security.

"In the case of installation of idols, all inspectors should meet with the organisers in advance and review the arrangements. Those who set up mandaps should inform the police and the field level staff have been instructed to behave politely with those who come for immersion,” Raveendra said.

“The GHMC staff and traffic police should make all arrangements so that children, women and the elderly do not face any problems at the ponds where immersion takes place. People should not believe the rumours on social media and we will be maintaining a vigil on fake posts as well," he said.
