Kakinada: East Godavari district Collector K. Madhavi Latha said that traffic movement on road-cum-railway bridge between Kovvuru to Rajamahendravaram will be closed from September 27 to October 26 as repair works on the bridge will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 2.10 crore. She instructed the police, transport, RTC and education departments to find alternative routes for the traffic movement.
She said that the central causeway, damaged secondary joints, geo glass grids and approach ways would be repaired for one month and the roads and buildings department has already informed the other departments about the repairs. She said that no vehicle should be permitted on the bridge.
She said that the tender process has already been completed for the works and has already removed the BT surface with a milling machine. She instructed the district police to take steps for diversion of traffic, not allow vehicles on the bridge. She instructed the education department officials to inform all the private educational institutions about the closure of the bridge to make alternative arrangements for their routes.
