Idiminnal cracks down on students roaming in Kozhikode
KOZHIKODE: Beware schoolchildren, both boys and girls, who bunk classes and roam around the city. The 'Idiminnal' team of the police in mufti may catch you any moment. The team has found that the students bribe the security officials and others in public parks, malls and tourist spots to help them change their uniforms and remain anonymous. The parent of a girl caught her with a few boys in a park in the city on Wednesday and it was the security guard who had arranged the facility for her to change her uniform.
The schools in the city have frequently reported about their students going round the city in uniforms. On Thursday alone, the 'Idiminnal' (lightning) team of Kerala police, a project aimed at curbing crimes against/involving minors, caught 11 students in addition to ten others who were seen taking triple rides on motor bikes. The team has also spotted a few shops located near the city schools that function as joints for girls and boys.
"In the last one week, more than 60 students studying in city schools and also from rural Kozhikode were caught for bunking classes and wandering in the city," said Mr P. Pramod, Kasaba CI. "Our team in mufti traces such students, warns them and informs their parents," he added. "We have appointed student informers in every school, who will help us in finding out whether a school girl or boy bunks classes and involves in undesirable activities," he said.
This was initiated on the special request from parents, who wanted to prevent their kids from getting involved in illicit activities or relations, he added. Mr Pramod said that the mufti squad will attend to complaints of assault on women and children, especially girl children in crowded places. Action will be taken against those in charge of parks and malls helping students in unwanted activities, he pointed out.
