Bhubaneswar: Five labourers were killed and seven others sustained severe injuries as a cement-laden truck carrying them overturned on Hantalaguda ghat in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Saturday.
As per reports, the truck carrying around 12 labourers was on its way from Chitrakonda to Jodamba village in Swabhiman Anchal. At around 11.30 am, the vehicle overturned at Hantalguda as it failed to negotiate the ghat road.
The injured labourers were rushed to the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital.
Reports said senior officials of the Malkangiri district administration visited the spot immediately after getting information about the accident and oversaw the rescue operation.
