Anganwadis to Intensify Agitations in AP

VIJAYAWADA: The leaders of Anganwadi unions have announced that protesting Anganwadi workers will intensify their agitations starting from December 31, as the Jagan Mohan Reddy government remains unresponsive to their justifiable demands. They stated that Anganwadis have been on strike for the past 14 days, demanding a wage hike, but there has been no response from the government.

AP Anganwadi Workers Union state president Subbaravamma stated that Anganwadi workers and helpers are agitating in CDPO offices and Mandal centers across the state to fulfill their demand for a minimum wage of Rs 26,000, gratuity, and other allowances. She mentioned that there are 55,607 Anganwadi centers across the state, with approximately one lakh Anganwadi workers and Ayas participating in the strike.

The leaders mentioned that the unions have decided to escalate the protests. Striking Anganwadi workers will stage protests at the houses of MLAs on December 27 in all 175 constituencies and will submit memorandums with their demands to the legislators. They also warned that if the government fails to meet their justifiable demands, Anganwadis will intensify their protests after December 31, and further courses of action will be announced soon.
