Vizag: NTPC unit shutdown due to boiler tube leak
Visakhapatnam: One of the four units of NTPC Simhadri super thermal power plant was shut down following a leak to the boiler tube. An official spokesperson said the leak developed at about 8 am on Sunday and it required 48 hours to plug the leakage. The unit producing 500 mw will become fully operational from Tuesday morning, the spokesperson said.
He said the other three units would make up the shortage of the production. The power generated by units one and two making up for 1,000 mw is dedicated to power distribution companies owned by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The remaining 1,000 MW, generated by units three and four is allocated to the states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry as per their shares as decided in the power purchase agreement.
