Former DG rank officer alleges encroachment, blames ‘corrupt’ revenue officials

HYDERABAD: Banjara Hills police registered a case against alleged land grabbers on a complaint from a retired DG rank officer, K. Narasimha Rao regarding his plot of land in Banjara Hills. The complainant levelled allegations against revenue officials using abusive language which the police replicated in the FIR.

According to the FIR, Narasimha Rao said he had the plot for 40 years. When a private firm, Madan Mohanlal Shriram Pvt Ltd, attempted to encroach on the property using the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) Act, he approached the government.

The firm with the help of a special officer of ULC, Bhanumurthy, and the principal secretary (revenue) filed a declaration under the ULC Act fraudulently including his plot, Narasimha Rao alleged. He approached again the government, which constituted a high-level team to establish the ownership of the land.

The complaint alleged that Bhanumurthy had not surveyed or physically verified the land before the issue of the GO. It alleged that the firm had hatched a conspiracy to grab government land by taking recourse to the ULC Act. Narasimha Rao cited the letters written by the special officer ULC to the district collector and the latter's reply.

Along with his complaint, lodged on January 23, the retired official also submitted documents to prove his claims, including Google Earth coordinates.

Following this, police registered a case under the IPC for trespass, wrongful restraint, public nuisance and criminal intimidation and took up investigation.
