Mosque panel encroached land: Kannur District Legal Services Authority
KANNUR: The District Legal Services Authority, Kannur, has submitted its probe report into the alleged encroachment by a mosque committee into the land of a hospital in Panur. According to the report by DLSA secretary (sub-judge) M.P. Jayaraj, government shall issue direction not to receive basic tax for land in Survey Number 13/5 from Panur Juma et mosque committee on the basis of a letter from tahsildar, Thalassery. He also directed an investigation by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau as to the receipt of the basic tax in 2011 from the mosque on the particular plot of land.
The secretary further explained to remove the encroachment. The probe report by the DLSA comes after a petition submitted by Janakeeya Vedi secretary E. Maneesh that the mosque panel was encroaching into the land of the government community health centre and the move to shift the hospital to another plot was to support the encroachment.
The area of the health centre is 36 cents and the name of the landlord as per the register is Abdulla Khadi. However, the Adangal register says the name of the landlord is Basel Mission Society and there is no entry regarding change of landlord’s name and the report finds that the new ownership lands from nowhere, since 2011. Mr Maneesh alleges that a fund to the tune of Rs 4.5 crore was raised from the public, to shift the hospital in 2015 under the guidance of then Agriculture minister and block panchayat president. He said that the fundraising should also be investigated.
