TIRUPATI: In a bid to protect government land from encroachment, the Chittoor district administration has initiated a comprehensive programme to address this issue. As directed by district collector Sagili Shan Mohan and joint collector P. Srinivasulu, stringent measures are being implemented to prevent the illegal occupation of government properties. The officials have issued clear instructions to revenue divisional officers (RDOs) and tahsildars to take decisive action against any individuals or groups found occupying government land.
“The district-wide plan is now being set in motion, with the aim of safeguarding public land from encroachers. Criminal cases will be registered against those who attempt to unlawfully seize or sell government-owned land,” said Srinivasulu.
To execute the initiative effectively, the district administration has formed special teams to gather survey numbers and pertinent information from various mandals across the district. The collected reports are being forwarded to the collector's office for evaluation and appropriate action.
In a notable development, government land in Peddasettipalli village in Chittoor mandal, with survey number 130, and Thimmasamudram, with survey number 89/11, have already been identified and marked as government land by placing informative boards.
“Tahsildars have been directed to provide details of any alienated government land within the specified time frame. The remaining mandals are currently under review, and once the reports are received, they will be carefully examined to ensure the protection of government-owned properties,” the joint collector said.
