Samastha note to keep NDF men out of panels
KOZHIKODE: The Samastha Kerala Sunni Mahallu Federation, the largest collective of mahals (religious establishments) in the state, has decided to issue a circular to all the 9,500 mahals to keep the NDF workers out of them. The decision was taken at the state committee meeting held at Samasthalaya, its state headquarters, at Chelari, Malappuram, on Monday.
“There is no difference between the ISIS and the elements of the NDF. They are fighting against Islam. Else, how could they target mosques? It is high time we ostracised them and saved the community and society. In a day or two, the circulars will be served to more than 9,500 mahals in Kerala to keep the workers of NDF and their relatives out of them,” said Samastha Kerala Sunni Mahallu Federation state secretary Umar Faisi.
The meeting was inaugurated by Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal and presided over by Samastha Kerala JamIyyathul Ulama secretary Kottumala Bappu Muzaliyar. The motion was passed unanimously by nearly 40 of the state committee members at the conference. They opined that it was mandatory to keep the terrorist forces away to restore harmony and secularism in the country.
“The NDF tries to spread its roots in society through charity activities. So, some of the mahals also support them considering the charity work. That is why we are forced to issue circulars to the mahals,” said Umar Faisi. However, SDPI state secretariat member Nasrudheen Elamaram said that IUML was unable to politically defend the SDPI and was spreading rumours about the party. “The IUML is exploiting the weakness of the Muslim community and getting rich at the expense of the community. Mahals and the community are not exclusively for any groups,” said Mr Elamaram.
