Anam hails CM for giving green signal to SS Canal restoration works

NELLORE: Venkatagiri legislator Anam Ramanarayana Reddy hailed Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving green signal to restoration works of the SS Canal, which were stopped after the demise of Dr YSR.

He said the CM gave his nod to commence the works irrespective of forest wing clearances when he took the issue to his notice.

Ramanarayana Reddy said they would install a bronze statue of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at Maddelamadugu in Rapur town where Dr YSR laid a foundation stone for Rs 382 crore estimated Somasila – Swarnamukhi link canal in 2006.

Addressing the media at Maddelamadugu on Thursday after inspecting the site for the installation of Dr YSR statue along with local leaders, Ramanarayana Reddy said the beautification works would be taken up in the area.

The 12-feet statue will be installed on 10-feet high platform at the same spot where Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy unveiled a pylon related to the SS Canal in 2006, the former minister said.
