Rambha wants to rejoin with hubby
Chennai: Actor Rambha, 39, has approached the family court seeking direction to her estranged husband to live with her and restitution of her conjugal rights.
They have been living separately for the past few years.
The multilingual star started her career in Tamil films in 1993 and has acted in over 100 films. Vijayalakshmi alias Rambha, married Indrakumar 47, a Canada-based businessman, in Saligramam on April 8, 2010, as per Hindu rites and customs. Indrakumar, who was born in Sri Lanka, settled in Ontario, Canada, was founder and chairman of Magickwoods, a kitchen and bathroom related products manufacturing firm in Canada and other countries.
She met him with the help of noted film producer Thanu. She was made as a brand ambassador of Magickwoods in 2006. In the petition she said Indrakumar concealed that he was a divorcee when he married her.
After the wedding, she settled in Toronto with her husband and began helping him in his business. They have two girl children. She said after consuming liquor, he used to abuse and harass her demanding her to transfer all her properties to him.
In 2012, she filed a complaint with the police in Canada over phone. However, his family members threatened her not to disclose anything to the police. Indrakumar took away all her money from bank account by fraud and filed false case against her alleging that she tried to take away their daughter to India.
Trouble started again when she gave birth to girl baby in 2015.
“I am a dutiful wife and never thought of being separated from family,” said Rambha adding that Indrakumar is trying to desert her. As all efforts to live with him failed, she approached the court for Restitution of Conjugal Rights as per section 9 of Hindu Marriage Act.
When the matter came up for hearing before court on Tuesday, the judge directed Indrakumar to appear before the court and adjourned the matter to December 3 for further proceedings.
