Thiruvananthapuram: Dutiful' cop thrashes flash mob performers

The flash mob campaign was inaugurated at Thampanoor stand by Mayor V.K. Prasanth.

Thiruvananthapuram: A group of flash mob performers, who were at Thirumala junction as part of the smart city awareness campaign, were allegedly heckled by a policeman. According to Corporation officials, the policeman even thrashed a couple of youth who were about to perform. Even though the youth explained that they had come for the awareness programme entrusted by the Mayor, the policeman refused to listen, according to officials.

The officials said that they had informed the Commissioner about the flash mobs to be held at various points in the city. Thampanoor KSRTC Bus Stand, East Fort, Kesavadasapuram, Kazha-kkoottam, Sreekaryam, Per-oorkkada, Vattiyoorkkavu, Pappanamcode, Killippalam, Kovalam, Shangumugham, Vzhuthacaud, Mannanthala and Corporation were the other venues chosen for the event.

An official at Control Room station said that, while they were yet to hear the policeman’s version, they feel that the policeman could have only acted out of his sense of duty as the event could have slowed the traffic. They said that there was only an altercation, and no one would have been physically mishandled. The flash mob campaign was inaugurated at Thampanoor stand by Mayor V.K. Prasanth.
