Jagan wants let people use municipal app to file grievances
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials to make the APCMMS (AP consistent monitoring of municipal services) App accessible to all the people and strengthen the response system in the app-based grievances cell. The app is being developed by the urban development department and will be introduced shortly.
During a review meeting on municipal administration and urban development held here on Friday, the chief minister suggested that new technologies be adopted in road construction to make them long-lasting and of good quality to withstand the different weather conditions.
He said other basic infrastructure such as drainage systems and interior roads also should be properly maintained. The APCMMS App, to be launched soon, aims at maintaining constant monitoring of the basic infrastructural and municipal services across towns and cities. Its grievance cell would consist of a quick response system to address the people’s problems.
With the CM’s direction, the app would be made available to both urban and rural areas. The app would help officials make the municipal services sustainable for longer terms.
The CM said the app would also help in real-time monitoring of the basic facilities/systems in towns and cities such as public toilets, underground drainage system, dredging, repairing of roads, street lights, greenery, traffic junctions and beautification.
He said the secretaries in 4,119 ward secretariats should monitor the maintenance of all services from 10am to 12noon every day through the app, and also bring to the attention of the authorities the requirements for road repairs at various places.
Each ward secretary would be able to monitor the maintenance of roads in his or her jurisdiction extending up to a distance of 6 to 7km and bring the issues to the notice of even the municipal councillors and corporators, who in turn will notify the authorities.
The chief minister said the higher officials would also monitor the grievance-response system on a continuous basis.
The CM green-signalled the establishment of a 7.5mw waste-to-energy plant in Rajahmundry to cater to the demands of 28 urban local bodies. He said that while all municipal services should be rendered to the people in a fully transparent manner, officials should also monitor the use of software applications in town planning and other offices to ensure a corruption-free system that would give time-bound response to the people.
Municipal administration minister Audimulapu Suresh, special CS (municipal administration and urban development) Srilakshmi and other higher officials were present.
