JS Corporator Seeks Action Against Those Involved in Daspalla Scam
Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena corporator Pithala Murthy Yadav has demanded action against those involved in the Rs 3,000 crore Daspalla scam, including Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) commissioner Sai Kant Verma, Vizag mayor Hari Venkata Kumari, principal secretary (Municipal Administration Srilakshmi and MP V. Vijayasai Reddy.
Addressing media on Tuesday, the JS corporator maintained that the matter has acquired urgency after the recent High Court order halting the controversial project. He maintained that a thorough inquiry should be conducted into the implicated officials and political leaders.
The JS corporator specifically said GVMC commissioner Sai Kanth had favoured private individuals in violation of established rules. Mayor Venkata Kumari had allocated Rs 5 crore for an unauthorised road, and principal secretary Srilakshmi and MP Vijayasai for their involvement in the Daspalla scam, apart from peshi official Dhanunjaya Reddy.
Murthy Yadav requested the state government that it allow GVMC to function in accordance with recommendations made by the elected representatives of the corporation.
He sought an immediate halt to grant of TDR rights and an inquiry into the previously granted TDRs
