Registration starts for availing unemployment allownace in Karnataka
BENGALURU: The Congress-ruled State Government on Tuesday rolled out its fifth guarantee ‘Yuva Nidhi’ to assist unemployed graduates and diploma holders with a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively.
The registration from eligible unemployed youths to avail benefits of the scheme got underway on Tuesday and the Chief Minister said that unemployment allowance would be deposited to the eligible and registered unemployed youths through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) on Vivekananda Jayanti day falling on January 12, 2024.
Yuva Nidhi was one among the five guarantees assured by the Congress party prior to coming to power in Karnataka and four of its guarantees such as free travel for women in State owned buses, free power upto 200 units for a family, 5-kg additional rice to BPL and Antyodaya card holders and Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for women every month.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of going back on his promises on creation of 2 crore jobs a year and stated that by now, about 20 crore jobs should have been created since Modi is in power at the Centre for the last 10 years. He asked Modi “Where are the jobs?”
Continuing his attack on Modi, Siddaramaiah stated that “Never in the history of the country, has any of the Prime Ministers lied as much as Modi does?”
Criticising Modi, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister had stated that the implementation of 5-guarantees would result in “bankruptcy” and Siddaramaiah brought to the notice of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the financial position of Karnataka remained robust despite the State Government rolling out 5-guarantee schemes such as such as free travel for women in State owned buses, free power upto 200 units for a family, 5-kg additional rice to BPL and Antyodaya card holders and Rs 2,000 cash benefit scheme for women every month.
He told Modi that “All your fears have gone wrong” with the implementation of 5-guarantees in Karnataka. The Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar spoke.
