IIIT-Hyderabad holds fireside chat with minister KTR
Hyderabad: IIIT-Hyderabad organised a fireside chat on the campus with minister K.T. Rama Rao to mark the 25th year of its founding. It was part of IIIT-H’s Silver Jubilee Talk series with thought leaders, industry captains and distinguished academia which will take place over the next 18 months.
Rama Rao inaugurated the series with the chat with IIIT-H students, faculty and key stakeholders. The discussion revolved around technology, development and economic growth and Hyderabad, according to a statement.
Rao viewed research demos of some of IIIT-H’s important projects in the areas of robotics, language technology, computer vision, sustainability/smart cities and research start-ups.
The event was attended by IIIT-H’s Governing Council Chair Prof. Raj Reddy, members Jayesh Ranjan, Ajit Rangnekar, Srini Raju and R. Chandrashekhar, IIIT-H’s first director Prof. Narendra Ahuja and Prof. R. Limbadri, Chair of the TS Council for Higher Education.
Established in 1998, IIIT-H now has 27 research centres, over 100 faculty, the country’s largest academic incubation centre and artificial intelligence group, and is working towards taking research from lab to land with constructive social impact, the statement said.
