VIJAYAWADA: The 74th Republic Day celebrations were held with patriotic fervour across Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. At the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Chief Justice Prashant Mishra unfurled the national flag.
The chief justice laid stress on the digitisation of court records and said that the judiciary was playing a key role to safeguard the constitutional spirit and democratic values. He vowed to take up the judicial process further with the help of artificial intelligence.
He said the AP high court would get 14 court halls with modern facilities in three months. Advocate general Subrahmanyam Sriram laid stress on safeguarding the values of the constitution.
At AP Secretariat, Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy unfurled the national flag and called upon the employees to work with a commitment to reach the benefits of welfare schemes and developmental works of the state government to the people.
AP Legislative Council chairman Koyye Moshenraju said chief minister Jagan Reddy was making all efforts to promote education in a big way. He thanked the CM for helping all the eligible persons get the benefits of the welfare schemes equally.
At the state assembly, Speaker Tammineni Sitaram said that the state government was making all efforts to eliminate poverty and implement several welfare schemes for the poor.
At Chief Minister’s Camp Office, CM’s special chief secretary Poonam Malakondaiah unfurled the national flag and offered tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi along with senior officials.
At the head office of the forest department, the principal chief conservator of forest and head of forest forces Madhusudhana Reddy called for promoting greenery in a big way and to minimise the use of plastic to protect the environment.
Krishna district collector Ranjith Basha stated that the construction of Machilipatnam Port would commence soon and added that a medical college at a cost of `550 crore at Machilipatnam would be coming up.
At NTR district, collector Dilli Rao called for collective efforts among all the employees to make the district realise the number one position in providing better services to the people.
In Visakhapatnam, Steel Plant chairman and MD Atul Bhatt said the growing economy would augur well for steel consumption and hence the steel industry would witness rapid growth.
The Hindustan Shipyard chairman and MD Hemant Khatri said it was promoting MSMEs by taking up a series of initiatives.
East Coast Railway divisional railway manager Anup Satpathy said the division achieved a 50 million tonne load of freight by the first week of January registering a four percent growth in freight loading and a 5.7 percent growth in freight revenue. He said the division realised gross earnings of more than `6,630 crores in the current fiscal so far, showing 9.75 percent growth.
East Godavari Collector Madhavi Latha said the new medical college coming up at a cost of `470 crore would commence its classes from the next academic year with 150 MBBS seats.
Kakinada collector Kritika Shukla said the self-help group women were being encouraged in a big way to enable them to achieve financial self-sufficiency and that the Mahila Marts set up at Uppada and A. Kothapalli were doing well.
Konaseema collector Himanshu Shukla said the national highway was being developed connecting Batnavilli-Perurur to reach Amalapuram to reduce the traffic problem and it would be ready by February.
West Godavari collector Prashanti said the district was at the forefront in the production of 1.46 lakh tonnes of prawns and 1.64 lakh tonnes of fish in 43,776 hectares of area.
Eluru collector Prasanna said efforts were on to rehabilitate Polavaram project-affected people in 32 colonies at a cost of `1,523 crores.
