SEC notifies polls to rural local bodies on Feb 3
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission issued notification on Friday for the elections to some rural local bodies via a special meeting at 11 am on February 3.
An officer authorised by the district collector would issue a notice for the special meeting to elect the president, vice president and name the co-opted member to Mandal Praja Parishads on or before Jan. 30.
Conduct of election for president is notified for Ramakuppam of Chittoor Zilla Praja Parishad and for vice president of Ramakuppam, Kalikiri of Annamayya district and Narasaraopeta of Palnadu district.
Conduct of election for casual vacancies of presidents and vice presidents of MPPs. MPPs including S Rayavaram, Piduguralla, Santhamaguluru, Alur, Vidapanakallu and ChenneKothapalli will go for election of presidents and MPPs -- Gara, Jiyyammavalasa, Payakaraopeta, Samalkota, Pedakurapadu, Venkachalam, Puthalapattu and Yemmiganur -- will go for election of vice presidents.
Election has been notified for co-opted members in MPPs like Kotavuralta, Gampalagudem, Jaladanki, Chillakur, Chittor and Maddikera.
The election for upa-sarpanches was also notified as these elections could not be completed in the earlier meetings convened for gram panchayats. Special meetings would be arranged in gram panchayats at 11am on Feb. 3.
Eight gram panchayats including Syamayavalasa, Vootapalli, Rekhavanipalem, Yerrakottapalle, Narayanareddypalli, Seshamambapuram, Gangavaram and Akkulagaripalli will go for election in this category. Elections will also be held for 22 gram panchayats for posts of upa-sarpanches to fill up casual vacancies.
The SEC also notified election to the office of chairperson of Dachepalli Nagar Panchayat by a special meeting at 11am on February 3.
