Accused in blast case at Kodiyeri still at large
KANNUR: The accused in the bomb attack at Nangarath Peedika, near Kodiyeri, where CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan attended a function on January 26, are still at large. Mr Kodiyeri was addressing a meeting held in memory of K.P. Jijesh, who was killed in an alleged attack by BJP workers in 2008, when a country-made bomb exploded almost 150 metres from the venue. However, Mr Kodiyeri continued the speech, asking the crowd not to panic. Though cases were registered against six BJP workers, the police are yet to arrest any.
The BJP workers taken into custody for interrogation were let off as they had no connection with the incident. Cases were registered against six BJP workers - Prasanth, Vaisakh, Roopesh, Nidhin Babu, Regnesh and Diljith on January 27. However, none of them were arrested. New Mahe SI Vipinkumar K.G. is investigating the case. Thalassery DySP Prince Abraham said that no breakthrough was made in the case. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had told Mr V.T. Balram in the Assembly that no arrests were made though cases were registered against six BJP workers. One person was injured in the blast and was admitted to cooperative hospital, Thalassery.
