HC dismisses child custody petition
HYDERABAD: A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed a plea pertaining to the custody of a child. The bench of Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Pulla Karthik heard the petition filed by Zarina Navreen of Bahadurpura, the mother of a minor child, who had to be produced and has been residing with the father. The court observed that the petitioner and the respondent chose separation in Saudi Arabia and later moved to India. Keeping in mind the future of the child, the bench questioned whether there was scope for a compromise. Dismissing the petition, it granted liberty to both to approach the legal services authority to resolve the issue.
Detention order against jail inmate set aside
A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court on Monday set aside a detention order in a case of habeas corpus. The bench of Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Pulla Karthik heard the petition filed by one Yellama of Mahbubabad seeking that her husband Dakoori Biksham be produced. He has been in Cherlapally central prison for six crimes in different parts of the state. The court observed that while in judicial remand, a detention order was passed against him mechanically without application of mind. The bench set aside the detention order and granted the detainee liberty to apply for bail in the competent court.
HC takes up election petition of former collector
Justice K. Lakshman of Telangana High Court on Monday taking up an election petition allowed an application filed by retired deputy collector M. Bixapathi to recall and suspend the bailable warrant issued against him. The warrant was issued against him for ‘not cooperating with the advocate commissioner and not appearing before him for recording evidence’. The High Court had issued the bailable warrant which was not executed. The court directed Malkajgiri DCP to be present and explain whether the warrant was executed or not and if not executed, the reasons for it. Pursuant to the previous order, Malkajgiri DCP D. Janaki was present in the court. The judge dispensed with the presence of the police official and directed Bixapathi to cooperate with the advocate commissioner in recording evidence.
