VIJAYAWADA: The first IndiGo flight from Vijayawada to Shirdi took off on Sunday from Gannavaram with 72 passengers.
IndiGo will operate two 72-seater ATR flights every day between Vijayawada and Shirdi. The flight from Gannavaram will leave for Shirdi at 12:25 p.m. and reach Shirdi at 3 p.m. The flight from Shirdi will leave at 2:20 p.m. and reach Vijayawada 4:35 p.m., airport authorities said.
Passengers travelling to Shirdi expressed their happiness while boarding the flight on Sunday. They said a direct flight to Shirdi helps them take their elderly and children for darshan without any problems.
A passenger pointed out that this service will be very helpful for devotees from AP, who would like to avoid long travel hours either by train or road.
