SCR invites tenders for new railway line
Anantapur: South Central Railway (SCR) has invited tenders for survey of a new 110-km broad gauge railway line between Muddanur in YSR district and Prasanthi Nilayam in Satya Sai district via Pulivendula and Mudigubba.
The tender is for survey of land requirement, fixing levels and alignment, and soil testing and bore drilling at proposed bridges.
Railways had sanctioned Kadapa-Bengaluru line in 2008 via Madanapalle and Kolar involving a distance of 255 km. Works on this have been done up to Pendlimarri from Kadapa.
Subsequently, in 2021–22 budget, a survey for Muddanur-Prasanthi Nilayam line had been proposed. This would reduce the burden of matching grant on the state government, sources said.
The new line will also provide connectivity for people between Dharmavaram and Kadapa.
