Another tiger dies in Vizag rescue centre
Visakhapatnam: A female Royal Bengal tiger named 'Kumari,' aged 23 died at the Animal Rescue Centre in Visakhapatnam, situated opposite the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park.
In a statement released on Monday, it was revealed that the cause of Kumari's death was senility, resulting from multi-organ failure, as indicated by the postmortem report submitted by the veterinarian at the Animal Rescue Centre.
Typically, tigers in the wild have an average lifespan of around 12-15 years. However, under the dedicated care provided by the ARC staff, Kumari was able to live until the age of 23. Presently, there is only one remaining tiger at the Animal Rescue Centre. The Centre was established in Visakhapatnam to shelter animals rescued from various circus companies across the country.
Earlier, another Royal Bengal tiger named Janaki also died due to similar causes at the Zoological Park.
