Stop land acquisition at Erramatti Dibbalu: Yadav

Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena leader and GVMC corporator Murthy Yadav has urged district collector Mallikarjuna to stop land acquisition near ecologically sensitive Erramatti Dibbalu on the beach road here.

In a release issued on Monday, Yadav said it was illegal on the part of Visakhapatnam Metro Regional Development Authority to issue land acquisition notification near Eerramatti dibbalu. “This place is famous not only in Andhra Pradesh but also across the country. The land acquisition, if it happens, would cause ecological imbalance,” Murthy Yadav said.

This notification is aimed at grabbing land from JV Agraharam, Nelarlavalasa, Nidigattu, Chippada, Talavalasa, Dakamarri and other villages, he said.

The Eerramatti Dibbalu history is thousands of years old. It attracts foreign tourists and film makers. Once these Erramatti Dibbalu were spread over 1500 acres but the spread has reduced by now to 80 acres. “This happened because of negligence and ineffective policies of previous governments.”

Yadav says, “It is sad that this government too is not protecting this geological heritage. The Jana Sena party demands withdrawal of the notification immediately.”

Yadav says, “This land acquisition notification is totally in violation of central laws like the Walta Act.”

“This is a neighbour to INS Kalinga. This is a very critical area from the national security angle. Laying layouts next to INS Kalinga is a dangerous move.”

He also emphasizes that all the land acquisitions undertaken by the Visakhapatnam Metro Regional Development Authority these days have been marked by irregularities and corruption.
