Telangana: Police Rescues 80 Stranded Visitors in Mulugu
WARANGAL: After carrying out a rescue operation for more than eight hours, the police officials rescued all the 80 members of the visitors who were stranded in the dense forest while they were returning with overflow of a stream present in the forest here in Mulugu district in the early hours on Thursday.
It is to be noted here that ignoring the warning of the police officials, the visitors went through another route to the waterfalls in the afternoon by walking covering six kilometers in the dense forest crossing three streams on their way after parking their vehicles at Veerabhadrapuram.
When they were returning in the evening, one of the streams started overflowing with flood water due to the heavy rains witnessed from the afternoon and they got stranded in the forest. Since it was getting dark, they made a phone call to dial 100 and sought help.
Receiving the phone call, the Superintendent of police Gouse Alam deployed 50 members which included NDRF, DRF and local personnel and by dividing them into five teams probed them to carry out rescue operation.
The teams by using walky-talky and by coordinating with each other started rescue operations in five different routes since the mobile phones of the stranded visitors were not working to trace them.
After eight hours of severe search operation, the teams found the stranded visitors at around 3.30 am and rescued all the 80 visitors safely. The police officials who brought the meals with them beforehand after learning that some of them are starving arranged meals to the visitors at the rescue camps along with medicines.
Meanwhile, the SP Gouse Alam said that of all the stranded visitors one of them was bitten by the scorpion and faced problems until the teams rescued him. He was then provided first-aid and then immediately shifted to the hospital for treatment.
There were no women and small children and all the 80 members of the visitors were youth who came from Khammam, Warangal and Hanamkonda districts.
The SP appealed to the people not to visit the restricted places where there are waterfalls since for the past few days the streams and canals are overflowing with flood water and may lead to untoward incidents. People should not show interest either for swimming or to catch the fish in the lakes and streams. In case of emergency, they must dial100 for help.
