Continuous rain disrupts life in Vishakhapatnam
VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam and its adjoining regions have been grappling with incessant rainfall since Friday night, owing to prevailing lower tropospheric south-westerly / westerly winds over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
In response to heavy downpours, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of weather advisories for Vishakhapatnam and the nearby areas spanning the upcoming seven days.
The local atmospheric conditions have undergone a remarkable shift, compelling residents to retrieve their long-unused rain gear like raincoats and umbrellas to navigate through the consistently drenched surroundings.
The impact of the rainfall has reverberated through daily life, particularly evident in the mounting traffic congestion on major roads. Localities such as Maddilapalem, Gopalapatnam, NAD junction, Old Gajuwaka, Poorna Market, Venkojipalem, Kancharapalem, and others have witnessed notable traffic snarls owing to the compounded effects of the rain.
The persistent rainfalls have presented challenges to both authorities and residents, who are endeavouring to acclimate to the altered weather conditions.
With the forecast indicating the continuation of rainy weather for the foreseeable future, the residents of Vishakhapatnam are preparing for further disruptions in their routines and are urged to stay apprised of weather updates and advisories issued by the relevant authorities.
