CBSE advisory to schools: Take guard against MOMO
Thiruvananthapuram: CBSE has issued an advisory to schools on the killer effects of MOMO challenge game aimed at children.
The Momo Challenge consists of a variety of self-harming dares which becomes increasingly risky as the game progresses and it finally ends with suicide challenge.
As per reports, Momo Challenge” started on Facebook where members are “challenged” to Communicate with unknown numbers.
The game involved challenges that encouraged teenager and children or any other user to engage in a series of violent acts as challenges of the game.
The game inspired the player, to add unknown contacts on WhatsApp by the name of ‘Momo’.
Once the contact is added, the image of the terrifying Japanese ‘Momo’ doll with bulging eyes appeared in contact.
The game controller entices players to perform a series of challenges and threatened with violent images, audios or videos if the player does not follow instructions.
What the police says
Many social media users made enquiries with the police through its official social media page regarding the Momo game scare, especially in the wake of reports that it would even lead children to commit suicide. The police could clarify that these were just pranks. “Last year when the Blue whale challenge scare emerged, many suicides in the state were linked to it. But police could not gather any evidence to substantiate such apprehensions, sources said.
