Hyderabad firm's cameras draw military interest

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based company has designed cameras with day and night vision that can film debris falling from aircraft on to the runways. If not spotted and cleared, these objects have the potential to gravely endanger aircraft.

The cameras can be installed on both sides of the runway.

Dr P. Radhakishore, director of HC Robotics, which built the cameras, said, “Around 40 persons search the runway at an airport and clear any particles lying on it. AI-based FOD (foreign object debris) detection cameras, a first of its kind, will detect these debris in real time.”

The company, HC Robotics, also came up with a gyro-stabilised IR camera, named ‘Chakshu’ that can calculate crowd density across a 10-kilometre area. Integration with facial recognition can also identify individuals.

These devices were displayed at the AI for Military Applications seminar.
