CPM seeks resumption of 52 cancelled trains
Visakhapatnam: Activists of Visakha district committee of CPM protested in front of the Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Thursday against cancellation of 52 trains used by poor and middleclass people of the Telugu states.
The trains had been cancelled two months ago following works related to doubling of tracks and signal repairs.
CPM secretary M. Jaggunayudu questioned why the trains have remained cancelled, though trains like Vande Bharat are running. “Does not Vande Bharat cause any disturbance to these works, he asked.
CPM 78th Ward corporator Dr. B. Ganga Rao accused central government of taking measures to privatise railways. He wondered why YSRC, TD and Jana Sena are not saying a single word on this matter.
The protesting CPM leaders demanded that central government immediately resume the cancelled 52 passenger and express trains, increase the number of general and sleeper coaches in regular trains and continue concessions for senior citizens.
